Sergej Sitki

Sergej Sitki

Sergej Sitki is the founder of ReceptionGO. Nine years ago he and his family opened a property that today has three apartments, six rooms with a shared kitchen and a small hostel — around 40 guests at a time. It is in Slovenia, so the British rules differ, but the problems are the same: guest records, a tourist tax, payments, reviews and guests who arrive at midnight.

Over those years he switched channel managers five times and did guest registration, tax and invoicing by hand. No single tool covered all of it, so he started designing his own. The story is in Nine years to freedom.

On the blog he writes about what he knows first-hand: arrivals, keys, guest messages, channels and commissions. Local rules he describes from the legislation and official guidance of councils, HMRC and the Scottish and Welsh revenue authorities, always with sources and the date he checked them.
